If the door and the door’s mechanism is fine, you should be able to use the door with the remote or the wall switch, with no problems. So it is easy to understand that if the door is not working perfectly you shouldn’t be using the opener!
If the door is not working properly simply pull the “usually” RED rope hanging from the openers track and disconnect the actual door from the opener. You can now walk over to the door and lift it easily by hand. To close just pull the door down until you hear it lock back into the track.
